Accident Insurance
Accident insurance
Accident insurance is one of three voluntary benefits available for you to purchase to supplement your medical plan. These provide you with additional protection against unexpected costly events affecting your health. The other two voluntary benefits that supplement your medical coverage are hospital indemnity insurance and critical illness insurance.
Accident insurance provides financial assistance when you are injured as a result of a covered accident. Depending on the specific injury or the treatment required, it will pay a specified amount based on the benefit schedule to help you with unexpected out-of-pocket costs. This is coverage that can be elected for the entire family.
The benefit schedule specifies payment amounts for events, such as hospitalization, emergency room treatments, surgery, coma, fractures, dislocations, burns, physical therapy, child sports related injuries, etc. Learn more.
In addition, for each covered person, accident insurance will pay a wellness benefit of $100 per 12-month period for undergoing a covered screening. These screenings include a colonoscopy, mammography, Pap test, PSA blood test for prostate cancer, and many more. Learn more about the wellness benefit.
